During the summer of 2009, in conjunction with Roosevelt University and the Union League Boys and Girls club in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, I led a student produced mural that centered around the theme of community connections. This project co-incided with the Presidential initiative of Community Service and Enrichment month and was recognized by the City of Chicago as a contribution to this event. Shown are a few details of the work in progress.
For the summer of 2010, youth from La Casa Norte and students from Roosevelt University participated in a collaboration funded by the Tribune-McCormick Foundation and Roosevelt University's Mansfield Institute of Social Justice. Students and youth interacted for a one-on-one collaboration in producing individual mosaics loosely configured around the concept of idividuality and identity.
